When a pedestrian, biker, rollerblader, runner, or jogger is legally using a county street, or city street, such as when in a cross walk, on a green "walk" sign, and he or she is hit in a car crash, or truck crash, the injuries can be severe. Pedestrians are more vulnerable to injury and death on a roadway than are the occupant(s) of a car or truck with safety features such as seatbelts, airbag and roll cage. Additionally, more than 78,000 pedestrians are seriously injured each year by a car or truck.
